Assistant Professor Tristan Driscoll, a faculty researcher in the Department of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering and Florida State University, has received a $1.8 million grant the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to unravel the complexities of how cells within the body sense and respond to directional forces.

Ayyalusamy (Rams) Ramamoorthy, a chemical and biomedical professor at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering and National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (NHMFL), had established a reputation for taking undergraduates under his wing while at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Now, the professor is bringing that tradition to his labs at NHMFL and the joint college.

“I want everybody to have the opportunity to get educated,” Ramamoorthy said.

Vivian Bernard, a recent biomedical engineering graduate from the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering is just beginning her journey toward changing the world.

Born in the Dominican Republic and raised in Florida, she wants to use engineering to help people in the best way she can.
