Last year, a multi-university team of researchers led by Yanshuo Sun of the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering, received a three-year National Science Foundation (NSF)-funded project to promote social equality and improve transportation accessibility for millions of transportation-disadvantaged people. The concept was theoretical at that time.
This is a sad day for the department. Dr. Robert N. Braswell, Professor Emeritus of the department, passed away on September 26, 2022. He was 90 years of age.
Dr. Braswell retired from the department in 2005. Many of you may not have met him, and some may even not have heard about him. However, Dr. Braswell was a big part of the department’s history and a significant contributor to what the department is today.
Joshua Degraff, a post-doctoral researcher at the High-Performance Materials Institute (HPMI) the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering’s Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, was recently awarded an Engineering Postdoctoral Fellowship from the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE).
Milan Rede is a second-year doctoral student in chemical engineering through Florida A&M University and wants to clear up some misconceptions about college life as an engineering student. She thinks there is sometimes a little confusion about how the joint FAMU-FSU College of Engineering works. Sometimes people don’t understand the relationship between the two schools.
The FAMU-FSU College of Engineering celebrated its 40th anniversary on September 23, 2022 at a tailgate-style event on its Tallahassee campus. The celebration was designed to bring Rattler and ‘Nole engineers together for a party to reminisce and celebrate the joint college’s achievements over the last four decades. More than 700 people enjoyed live music, food and campus and lab tours on a Friday before both universities hosted home football games.
The start of the Fall 2022 semester saw not only new students at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering but over a dozen new faculty members in all our five academic departments.
Summer is coming to a close, and the new academic year is an exciting time on campus. New and returning faculty and staff had the chance to meet Suvranu De, the new dean of the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering, and to celebrate the year the college turns 40.
More than 12 new faculty bring new energy to the engineering community of over 300 faculty and staff at the college. De shared some thoughts about being at the helm and expressed his desire to meet everyone personally on his staff. His message of serving was warmly greeted by the enthusiastic crowd.
