The graduate programs in the nation’s only joint engineering college are among the best in Florida and the nation, according to the latest rankings published in the U.S. News & World Report’s 2024 edition of “Best Graduate Schools.”

The FAMU-FSU College of Engineering moved up one spot among public institutions with a No. 60 ranking nationally and tied for third overall among Florida public universities.

Engineering Students Shine in 2024 Aviation Big Data Case Competition

The first Aviation Big Data Case Competition, sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and co-organized by the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering and American Airlines (AA), showcased the enormous potential of big data analytics in tackling genuine challenges within the airline industry.

This extraordinary competition united some of our brightest engineering students, eager to showcase their data analytics skills and solutions for operation-related problems.

First-Generation College Student and Future Engineering Faculty Member Awarded with McKnight Doctoral Fellowship

When Franchesca Bellevu received the news in April 2024 that she had received the respected McKnight Fellowship, she saw it as one step closer to her dream of being a professor.

Bellevu graduated from Florida State University in 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in industrial and manufacturing engineering. She is working on her doctorate from Florida A&M University at the joint college.

Layer By Layer: Professor Develops New 3D Printing Technology

In everything from electronics in cars to the components of commercial airliners are state-of-the-art 3D-printed materials. Their strength and properties depend on what they’re made of and how they’re made.

Inside Tarik Dickens’ lab at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering, researchers are fine-tuning the tools used in 3D printing, helping to create better, stronger materials for a wide variety of applications.
