Mechanical Engineering researcher receives Young Investigator Award

Unnikrishnan Sasidharan Nair, an assistant professor in mechanical engineering at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering, received the 2024 Young Investigator Program (YIP)Award from the Office of Naval Research (ONR) in the Department of Defense for his work in aerodynamics. He is one of 24 recipients and will receive funding to conduct innovative scientific research for the Department of Navy.

Through Florida A&M University, researchers at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering recently secured a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy that ensures a future workforce more reflective of the demographics of the nation.

The new RENEW program (Reaching a New Energy Sciences Workforce) develops a strong pipeline for traditionally smaller-population undergraduate and graduate engineering students to pursue the field of applied superconductivity.
