ORNL Neutron Scattering & Quantum Materials Workshop

The workshop titled, “Neutron Scattering, High Magnetic Field, and Complementary Techniques for Quantum Materials” will take place in person at Florida State University, Tallahassee.

This workshop aims to bring together experts and users from neutron scattering and high-field Maglab communities, along with specialists in complementary techniques to showcase how neutron scattering, high-magnetic-field, and various other techniques can work together to investigate quantum materials at the forefront of current research.

FSU Discovery Days: Celebrating the International Year of Quantum

Engage with the FSU Quantum Initiative!

Enjoy some pizza and learn how students can engage in research opportunities with the FSU Quantum Initiative. Speakers include researchers from the National MagLab, the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering and the FSU Department of Physics. Attendees also can get a behind-the-scenes look at the MagLab (closed toe shoes required].

ORNL Day: Undergrad Internship Opportunities

Learn about Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s many opportunities for summer internships and other student programs aimed at undergraduates and recent graduates. The session will give you an idea of different research areas and give you the keys to a successful application, plus give you information on multiple Summer 2026 internship opportunities.

Applications for Summer 2026 open in October.

Parallel MATLAB

This workshop will cover the basics of using the High-Performance Computing (HPC) cluster to run computing jobs:

  • How to create a RC/HPC account
  • Submitting jobs through Slurm schechuler
  • Organizing and managing files on the cluster

Don't miss this opportunity to get started with HPC and strengthen your computational research skills! This event is open to all FAMU-FSU College of Engineering students, staff, and faculty, and grad students are encouraged to attend.
