Florida State University and FAMU-FSU College of Engineering student Lucas Deininger recently returned from a summer abroad experience in England. The internship experience was part of the Florida State University Benjamin Gilman Scholarship he recently received.
These changes took effect now, at the start of the Fall 2023 semester. Join us in congratulating these deserving instructors and researchers, all of whom are jointly appointed at both Florida A&M and Florida State universities as part of their affiliation with our joint college.
When Valentina Fajardo heard she earned the Florida State University Benjamin Gilman Scholarship Award, she realized she had become part of the Gilman community. She and 15 other FSU recipients would be able to study and intern abroad.
She is one of two FAMU-FSU College of Engineering students who got the award. Lucas Deininger also received the award.
“I am extremely grateful to be a recipient of this scholarship,” Fajardo said. “It is an honor to have someone believe in my potential and invest in my education.”

Researchers at Florida State University and the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering are developing hybrid algorithms to minimize and prevent the impact of travel delays. Their findings could save airlines thousands in revenue and lower consumer costs—and boost customer satisfaction with more on-time flights.
Students count on the small team of superheroes to support their capstone projects. For many, those projects represent the highlight of their college careers.
